"Steward's Manual."  A helpful, "How-To" reference that discusses responsibilities, understanding the law and\or labor contract, and a step-through of processes involved in representing employees.

"You & Collective Bargaining."  A comprehensive, "how-to" manual on the practice and theory of working with Management to produce or refine a solid Contract Bargaining Agreement (CBA).  The resource is also great for purposes of negotiation in Local matters.

 "Administrative Research & Writing."  A "must-read" for every Local officer and steward!  This document is helpful in grievance, arbitration, mediation and any situation that demands thorough understanding of facts and precise, proper legal language. 

Creating Effective IPPs and CTMAs.  An AFGE Council 170 white paper.  These business documents matter, tremendously, to employee's careers.  Because they can often be written in a way that can hurt employees, union reps need to know how to improve them and what things to watch out for, in order to help correct them.

"AFGE CaseTrack."  A web-based grievance tracking system application that allows AFGE Local Presidents to access up-to-the-minute reports and case information at any time.

"Local Officer's Resource Guide."  This guide includes resources designed to help AFGE Local Presidents educate and lead the local union. It contains information on the roles and responsibilities of local union officers as well as useful tools for helping develop union activists and mentor them in their union work.

 "How to Run a Local Meeting."  This handbook is designed to help local leaders obtain a knowledge of democratic meeting procedures and to suggest some ideas for increasing membership interest, participation and attendance at union meetings.

"AFGE Rep Wing."  A regularly updated, AFGE publication that presents news, tips and resources on representation and arbitration.

"Douglas Factors in Depth."  An informative guide to understanding the importance of Douglas Factors in the defense of employee's facing discipline.  Authorship unknown.

"Discovery in Merit System Protection Board Proceedings."  Explains guidelines and gives examples of discovery in merit systems protection board proceedings.

"AFGE Guide to Office of Inspector General Interviews."  Warning: This guide is intended to provide general information on Office of Inspector General interviews. This document is not a substitute for individualized legal advice.

"Understanding the Family & Medical Leave Act."  A guide to understanding federal employees rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) and its application in the federal and DC government workplace.

"Understanding the "Hatch Act."  Provides information on the legal rights of federal employees in engaging in political election campaigns, what government workers can and cannot do under the law. Distinguishes between a political campaign and legislative action.

"Rights of Disabled Employees."  Describes and explains the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requiring Federal agencies to reasonably accommodate the needs of qualified employees with a handicapping condition.

"Understanding "Weingarten Rights."  Explains the right of employees to have union representation at investigatory interviews.

"Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Workbook."  An exhaustive guide for AFGE representatives on fighting discrimination in the federal government.

"Women/Fair Practice Coordinator Guide."
  This manual describes the role and duties of local and district women's and fair practices coordinators.

"Merit Promotion & Job Classification."   An overview of Processes, Required Forms for Use in Investigations, and Appeals Info. 

"Title 5 USC."  A search-enabled, full text copy of the U.S. Code covering government organization and employees. 

"Office of Personnel Management's Reduction in Force (RIF) Portal."  Many resources to understanding and navigating the RIF process to ensure your employees are treated properly.

All About Security Clearances.  This document is an excellent source document for understanding all things security related.
